The Lady Palm (Rhapis excelsa) is native to Southern China and Taiwan. It is a densely clustering, deep green fan palm, eventually growing to 3-4 metres in height. It has has a long life, and is slow growing. Prefers to grow in partial shade, making it an extremely good indoor plant but can also be grown outdoors in the right conditions. It thrives in well-drained organic soils and can cope with dry conditions for short periods of time but dislikes being water logged.
